Biography
Early Life
Joshua Miles was born on July 7th, 1976 to James and Patricia Miles somewhere in the East Midlands region of England - he was the first of four children. His two younger twin brothers, Anthony and Frank, were born eleven minutes apart sometime in 1979 and his sister, Jade, was born in 1984.
His parents were both happy in secure jobs and had no trouble supplying for their children. They lived well, yet Josh only attended school up until he was fifteen years old. It is unclear why he dropped out, but he spent the next three or four years working with his uncle in the Southampton docklands.
His parents disapproved of his decisions, but he did not go without education. He would teach himself random subjects, whatever caught his eye, when he wasn't working. His earnings from the docklands were enough to help out at the family home and eventually buy his own residence in one of London's most crime-ridden neighbourhoods.
The Slavik-Dargoon Outfit
Some time in the 1980s, the docklands became a regular target for many criminal organisations operating in the area. It was not long before a series of brutal events led to loss of work and new employers. Eventually, the docklands were all but shut down except for a few "private" shipments, arranged by Victor Slavik, then the well-known and respected boss of the international Dargoon outfit.
Both Joshua and his uncle were offered spots on the secluded work taking place without them, but they were both skeptical. Unfortunately, with his lack of certified education, it was proving somewhat impossible for Joshua to find other work. Against the wishes of many, including his siblings, he returned to the docklands under Slavik's employment, offloading and delivering stolen goods ranging in anything from clothes and electronics to sports cars and even people.
He proved a reliable and efficient worker, and soon began to take more of an illicit hand in the Dargoon businesses, collecting weekly payments from local business owners and handling security matters. He was even rumoured to have been involved in the death of a confidential informant, Rick Agareeny, in London. He was a recognised a respected member of the organisation, even though his ethnicity kept him from advancing in the ranks.
Dargoon-Cassidy War
In the summer of 1996, in North London, there began a heated disagreement between the Dargoon outfit and a relatively unknown Irish outfit from Northern England, known as the Cassidy's. The trouble, allegedly, was started over a shipment of heroin that the Dargoon's were accussed of intercepting on its way to Manchester. The shipment was later discovered to have been the possession of Liam Cassidy, boss of the Cassidy outfit operating out of Greater Manchester. Victor Slavik was said to have attempted to resolve the issue several times through meetings between administration members of both outfits. These were ignored, some meetings even ambushed, and the Dargoon's were forced into war.
Josh played a very active role in the unfolding events, taking out several higher-ranking members of the Irish outfit and undoubtedly becoming a winning factor in the ongoing violence. It was not until the Cassidy's began to disperse in numbers that he became a target of his own organisation. He was accussed of being the one to steal the shipment that started the whole war, and was run out of England.
Somewhere outside of New York, he was picked up by the NYPD and held under suspicion of murder. When he finally attended a courthouse, it was to discover that Victor Slavik had given police evidence that proved his involvement in the war. Although they did not have enough to prove he had committed murder, there was sufficient evidence in a number of other smaller crimes to sentence him to twenty-five years.
Prison Life
He spent the majority of his sentence being moved from prison to prison to avoid trouble he may've encountered due to the rumours that he had somehow betrayed the Dargoon outfit. He busied himself in prison library to prison library, preparing his first appeal.
He had only served a few years when he took his case back to court, even though it seemed impossible that any different outcome would be reached. Despite the odds, he continued to appeal many times and was only eventually acquitted when an unknown ally from the Dargoon outfit provided unknown information that lessened his sentence by a number of years. He was released from prison in the early months of 2008.
