MSRP Game News

Interview with Natmiel.

May 3rd, 2008 · No Comments · MSRP III News

Tell as a bit about yourself…

For the record, please state your name.

How old are you?
Nineteen.

Where are you from?
Australia, mate.

How long have you been role-playing?
I dunno. Think I started when I was fifteen?

What’s your favorite television show?
Probably Supernatural. Don’t watch TV that much.

What’s your best feature? (You know, for all the ladies out there ;) )
No idea. Maybe my tattoos. Or the abs.

Who’s your favorite band?
Papa Roach.

As far as role-playing…

What characters do you currently play on MSRP III? Tell us a bit about them.
Dolan Carson. Schizophrenic, though medicated Irish hitman with a thick Irish brogue and a habit of destroying other peoples lives - I suppose he’s not really based on anyone in particular, more just… created.

Fedot Dyalov, Russian criminal who’s armed to the teeth and feels protective over a twelve year old girl. He generally lives with Eric Sanderson – Boris the Blade from Snatch and the movie Eastern Promises were the motivation here.

Out of all the characters you’ve played, who was your favorite and why?
Dolan. He’s a badass, and I generally find it easy to write as him. Plus, I’ve had him for what.. two years? And he’s never died.

If you could do a tag job with anyone on the site who would it be and why?
Ebz. I miss RPing with her. It was great fun.

In your opinion, what’s the best role-play you’ve done? (Past or present/old or new).
Actually, I really like my last couple as Dolan, tagging with Olivia Worth. They were good fun. Either that, or a couple of the tortures back in the days of ML.

How many hits (estimate) have you done since you’ve played on MSRP/MRPG?
I dunno. Several?

If you could do a duel/hit anyone on the site who would it be and why? (Think of your best adversary).
Jack. I’ve always wanted to see if I could take that awesome bastard.

If you could change one thing about MSRP III, what would it be and why?
Shrink it a little more to force conflict. Nothing gets me active like wars.

How long have you been role-playing with MSRP/MRPG?
Umm… Three years maybe?

Game Three in Nero’s Arena begins.

April 24th, 2008 · No Comments · In Game News

So far Samson Khalfani has been victorious in Game 1 and Game 2, so he is the favorite to win. However his competition seems competent. Samson’s latest weapon is a double ended six foot light ash spear, called a hasta, and he can wield it as he likes. The reward for winning this round of the game is a heavy roman helmet, which will provide additional protection. Game 4’s prize, assuming that Samson wins again, will be armor. Each round until the tenth round in a row for a victor will result in better armor, weapons, and items for use.

The tenth round victory will assure 10,000 dollars cash to his IG account. 20 victories and he gets 20k for that, along with continual weapon and armor upgrades. If he is undefeated for longer than 20 rounds, each one is a notch toward a record that will probably never be broken.

Good luck contestants!

Edit: Round three ended in disgrace as Miller pulled a dipshit move.  It is now round four against Samson and Kiddo.

Wave to The White Hand

April 17th, 2008 · No Comments · In Game News

Jersey has new tenants. Drunken, fumbling, hard-to-understand Irish tenants. This latest syndicate isn’t anything original, by far, but we all know fun comes with the Irish. As well as Guiness, corned beef with cabbage, little people with green hats, ginger hair and St. Patrick’s Day.

The White Hand is headed up by the vaguely familiar Thomas Avery, whose writing I know from somewhere but cannot place. The gangs advisor, Tommy’s older sister Caitlin, is looking promising judging by her recent ‘disagreement’ with Scotty ‘Big Mouth’ Lynch - looking forward to the family being run by a family. The Lieutenant heading up all the lucky Irish boys and girls is Patrick O’Landry, whose unorthodox writing is as entertaining as it is confusing. A good read though. Definitely the foundations of something interesting.

So, why have I chosen to write an article on this syndicate and none of the others? Simple - just something I liked about Tommy’s effort to give his gang some history. If you haven’t read the wiki entry yet, you should. It makes for a good read, and its actually quite enthralling to discover who is running this gang now and just why/how he got there. Maybe you guys could flesh out the Seamus-Avery feud a little more?

To wrap up - welcome to Jersey, micks. Good luck and, er…. good hunting, I guess.

Sapienza-CCS War

April 4th, 2008 · 1 Comment · In Game News

Sapienza PWNED?

A recent, albeit very brief, clash in Chicago’s northern hemisphere supplied us with our first war on MSRP III and a little entertainment then, eh? Not many seem to be able to remember how these things get started, but old DevilDog’s stern and, I’ll say it, unexpected judgement will keep this fresh in a few peoples minds for the next couple of weeks, I’m sure. Can’t fault him though, it gave us all a giggle and you know it, which leaves but one thing to say on that matter - good judgement. Simply.

Anyhow, back to the business at hand. I dare say there were a fair collection of people expecting this war to go the opposite way. As per usual, many were disappointed. It may be true that old Tony certaintly portrayed himself as a force to be reckoned with and, whilst you may not want to admit it, there were a few of you discreetly holding respect for the old chap. And why not? He seemed nice enough.

Unfortunately, keeping all his top guys in the same location proved to be a bit of a pawn move and, despite their own losses (hard luck Loki and co.), you’ve got to clap vaguely for the old CCS boys and their effort. They wanted something done - they went out and did it. I guess if they’d beaten Sapienza after a few hap-hazardly judged hits and destructions on both organisations behalfs, we would be offering a little more good will and perhaps even a congratulations but, at the end of the day, it has to be said that this war was a lot like the first time you do ecstasy - its fast, its funny, nobody seems to know what they’re doing except you and you can’t stop laughing until its over.

Sorry fella’s, but I think we’re yet to see the first memorable war of MSRP III.

You need some God Damn MafiClean!

April 3rd, 2008 · No Comments · MSRP III News

That’s right dammit!

And here to demonstrate Maficlean we have our volunteer, Franco “ManTits” Bananznini

Hello there ManTits! Now simply take a look at that carpet, covered in blood from a whacked snitch we just took care of - how in the hell are you going to clean this up? Simple, watch as ManTits Bananzini uses MafiClean on that stain! See the bubbling? That’s the deep Omerta Peroxide Oxidation action! Once the free radical stage is done, you just wipe it up with some towels, and burn them in our MafiClean Portable Incinerator! Boom! Problem Solved!

Now what happens when you have something else spilled, lets say of the non-blood variety? MafiClean works there too! ManTits, spill some of that wine on the carpet. Good. Now watch as MafiClean cleans up that mess!

UhOh, did that hit not go over well, brain matter and blood all over your Bosses new car interior? Have no fear! MafiClean is here! Just put on our pateneted MafiClean and your mess is clean! Isn’t that right ManTits Banazini? Of course it is.

Remember, you can get MafiClean, and the MafiClean Portable Incinerator only at The Official Home of MafiClean - Mafia Station Role Play III!

The Second Amendment Explained

March 22nd, 2008 · No Comments · MSRP III News

There is probably no subject in the Constitution of the United States of America that is debated more in the present day than the Second Amendment. To some, this amendment is seen as giving citizens the ultimate right to own guns as they see fit. To others, it’s seen as something meaning that citizens have a right to bear arms in the service of our country and not as an unlimited right to own arms as one sees fit. Still others ignore the Second Amendment entirely when trying to pursue their policy of abolishing guns. Therefore, I shall now attempt to explain what the Second Amendment really says about owning guns. Keep in mind that this article is meant to be INFORMATIVE and, as such, will attempt to be as neutral and unbiased as possible using only the word and letter of the Constitution and various official court rulings regarding the Second Amendment.

To begin with, let us first examine what the Second Amendment actually says. We’ve all heard various spliced versions of it throughout our lives, but it is essential to read the complete amendment in order to understand it fully:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” [1]

Okay, so now that we’ve established what it literally says, it’s time to decode what it actually means.

The first part of the Second Amendment makes it clear that the amendment is for creating a strong, “well regulated Militia”. Let us therefore consider what the term militia means for to understand the Second Amendment better. Dictionary.com defines militia as such:

1. a body of citizens enrolled for military service, and called out periodically for drill but serving full time only in emergencies.

2. a body of citizen soldiers as distinguished from professional soldiers. [2]

Given this definition, it’s plain to see that the militia is composed of civilians who are members of an auxiliary-type wing of the military itself. Let us now consider a more authoritative definition of militia. The Militia Act of 1903 defines militia in two ways. The first is the organized militia which is the official name for the National Guard and the Naval Militia. The second definition of the Militia Act of 1903 is the reserve or unorganized militia. This branch of the militia consists of every able-bodied, male American citizen between the ages of 17 and 45. [3] [4] Given this, a good majority of the American male population is a member of this pool of unorganised militiamen..

Now that we’ve established exactly what and who the militia is, let us move on to the next part of the Second Amdendment.

[…] The right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” [1]

The first two words of this section are “the right”. That means that whatever follows next is not a privilege or gift, but a right. “Of the people” is the next part of this section. Although I’m sure we all know what “the people” means, to give a brief definition based upon all of the numerous other times the words “the people” appear in United States law, it is safe to say that “the people” refers to the citizens of the United States of America as a whole and not to one population of citizens but to citizenry as a whole. Therefore, “the people” in the Second Amendment is obviously referring to American citizens as a whole. To quote the United States Supreme Court in the case United States v. Verdugo-Urquidez:

“This suggests that “the people” refers to a class of persons who are part of a national community or who have otherwise developed sufficient connection with this country to be considered part of that community.” [5]

Therefore, it seems absurd that the Second Amendment could be referring only to the military’s right to bear arms instead of American citizenry as a whole. Therefore, we’ve now established WHO has the right to “keep and bear arms” (US citizens as a whole). Next, let us establish what it means to “keep and bear arms”.

The final part of this section is “to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed”. Many people commonly cite definitions of bearing arms referring to a military sense of the word. Indeed, dating back to its earliest known use in the epic poem Beowulf, the term bear arms has always referred to using arms (weapons of course, not the bodily limbs) in a military sense. This usage of the term “bear arms” is furthermore the one supported by the United States government in regards to the Second Amendment.

To quote the Tennessee Supreme Court (Amyette v. State) on this terminology:

“A man in the pursuit of deer, elk, and buffaloes might carry his rifle every day for forty years, and yet it would never be said of him that he had borne arms; much less could it be said that a private citizen bears arms because he has a dirk or pistol concealed under his clothes, or a spear in a cane.” [6]

Therefore, it is true that bearing arms only refers to using arms in a military sense. However, one key word that is overlooked by almost all anti-gun supporter is the verb “to keep” that precedes the word “bear”. Therefore, while the words “bear arms” only refers to a military sense, the verb “to keep” does not. To quote the United States Supreme Court in the case District of Columbia v. Heller:

“We think “keep” is a straightforward term that implies ownership or possession of a functional weapon by an individual for private use.” [7]

Therefore, while the right to BEAR arms does inherently and always refer to using arms in a military sense, the right to KEEP does not. Given this authoritative definition of “to keep”, it is impossible to deny that United States citizens are entitled the RIGHT, not privilege, to own arms. Anything to the contrary is contrary to both the spirit and the word and letter of the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution.

While there are guaranteed to be debates on regulating what types of arms are legal, licensing and other REGULATIONS of arms, the right “to keep and bear arms” is inalienable.

Interview with a MSRP player (continuing thing)

March 19th, 2008 · No Comments · MSRP III News

What’s your name?

Limmy's Sig

How long have you been playing on MSRP?

Since it opened, one of the few ‘hardcore’ players.

Who was your first character?

I’m not sure, I think it was someone Lancione, I was in some inactive family run by a guy who doesn’t play anymore. Got into a war very quickly and lost, sadly.

What originally attracted you to MSRP?

The fact it was something new and YJ harassed me constantly until I joined.

What group were you involved with when you first started? (if any)

I just answered that, it was some small time family of close people, failed miserably considering I was the only one of maybe two active.

Tell us a little bit about your character(s). How did you come up with their background? Who are they modeled after? What are their names?

Eric Sanderson – He’s just a random creation, based on maybe a cross between Tyler Durden and Jack from Fight Club, in a fashion but mostly just random.

Jebadiah – He’s more of a serious attempt at writing, one of those deep thought type of characters, one you could honestly work a book on. His story is being an ex-cop after turning coward and slowly losing grip on reality, again a deep thought thing.

Who was your favorite character to play? Why?

My favorite character is either Alek Petrov, who has never died after about 4/5 years, him or maybe Alad Bennet, my first successful hitman and most used character. And for the hell of it, Luka Barkovitz, a character I spent a lot of time working on, even did a 10,000 word biographical piece just for fun.

Have any mobster movies influenced your role playing on MSRP?

Not really, because I don’t watch that many films these days.

What’s your favorite quote?

The one I used in Eric’s sig originally, from American Psycho. Too lazy to find it.
